From Europe to Brisbane: Valentino Retrospective at GoMA

Queensland lovers of haute couture will be head over heels to come up close and personal with the fabulous array of Valentino designs from the past five decades at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) next month.

The Brisbane gallery snared the exclusive exhibition, Valentino Retrospective Past/Present/Future which showcases 100 ensembles from the world famous Italian fashion designer which span his career from the late 50s to his final collection in January 2008.

The impressive collection includes the most important haute couture creations originally shown in Paris in 2008 as well as garments worn by Hollywood stars such as Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Elizabeth Taylor and Julia Roberts.

Queensland Art Gallery director Tony Ellwood said the exhibition explored Valentino’s techniques and recurring motifs such as ornamentation, the use of geometric and anaimal prints, frills, folds and pleats as well as the creative possibilities of volume, surface and line.

Be seduced by the brilliance of Valentino at GoMA from August 7 until November 14. For more information visit the gallery’s website.

Enjoy!
